Coco Gauff, 19, Explains Her Approach To Matches

Cori Gauff, 19, says her parents raised her to always respect her opponents as she reveals an interesting approach she is taking during matches.

Gauff, who made her first Grand Slam final at this year's French Open, rose to a career-high ranking of No 4 this Monday."Obviously, my parents raised me to have a lot of respect for players. But they always say when you go out on the court, it's just you and the ball and whoever you play against. So you are not really playing against the player, you are playing against the ball.

And yeah, that's kind of how I approach it," Gauff said. Gauff praised for her personality Christopher Eubanks, a fellow American tennis player, was a guest on the Tennis Channel. When asked about Gauff, Eubanks described the 18-year-old as "a very normal kid" that loves to spend some around those close to her."She just spends so much time with her friends, going to her younger brother's sporting events.

She is such a normal kid. And just the fact that she handles everything so well is incredibly impressive to me," Eubanks said of Gauff.Meanwhile, Gauff is preparing for her WTA Finals debut. This weekend in Fort Worth, this year's edition of the WTA Finals is kicking off.Gauff, who is just 18, is set to compete in both singles and doubles events at the WTA Finals.

In the doubles event, Gauff will be competing with fellow American Jessica Pegula.Gauff, who sets high goals and expectations for her, will certainly be aiming to cap off her season with a strong WTA Finals result.

A bit surprisingly, Gauff hasn't won any singles titles this year. Going into the WTA Finals, world No 1 Iga Swiatek * who defeated Gauff in the French Open final - is the top favorite for the title. It remains to be seen if Gauff can make the splash and win the WTA Finals this year.
